Chewy marshmallowy centre encased in a crispy meringue shell and a refreshing drink that tastes like Cream Soda. What is not to love about these 2 things? Well I've combined them both right here :)

Festive Hot Pink Lips For The Silly Season

read the post
If you feel like really sprucing up the makeup routine this party season, but don't want to go overboard (i.e. you simply don't have time to be learning new makeup techniques or rummaging for the best eye look), a festive hot pink lip is the easiest way to liven things up. This could be the first time you brave one, and it does take a lot of courage to rock a fuschia shade, but there really is no other fun reason to start rocking one than in the silly season.

My Basic Daily Uniform

read the post

T Shirt / Country Road (currently 20% off and comes in 10 colours!) and Denim shorts / Topshop (similar).

Having a home office has meant that my daily uniform has become somewhat very basic, simple, and frankly, not very exciting. But nevertheless, I have managed to transition from what used to be a PJs uniform (read singlet and boxer shorts), to a comfortable, well cut basic tee and denim shorts.

Behind Vogue Australia's 55th Anniversary Shoot

read the post

Now that I have more time to explore in the creativity world, I seek inspiration from a multitude of channels for my own blog posts, and to gain motivation for myself to keep pushing forth in finding ideas of what I want to do more of, for the next ten years. That's pretty ambitious isn't it? While I worked ten years in Corporate, I could never answer my mentors and managers when they would ask me "what do you see yourself doing in the long term?", "what do you think you would like to do in ten year's time?". Most of the time, it was because I knew, deep in my heart, that my future was not with the firm or company that I was working for at the time, and so I was always cautious in any answer that I could drum up.

Beautiful Athens

read the post

When I was planning the hit list for our whirlwind European trip, Greece was always on the agenda, and more importantly Santorini. Athens was always be going to be our first pitstop and so it was worth at least a good look around the city. While I took upon some of my friend's advice to not spend too much time in Athens because there wasn't much to do, we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to fill in the day and night we had reserved, with shopping around and seeing the main sights. Aside from the graffiti, it's not a bad little city!

The Beauty Sponge - The Beauty Blender Pro

read the post
Makeup sponges to me would either be that triangular sponge that makeup artist used to dab dab dab around your nose or that little white cushiony number that would turn beige/orange over time, nestled in your makeup compact, one which I would be first to toss into the bin preferring to use a makeup brush instead. What a snob!

Lemon Meringue Cupcakes

read the post
Lemon-y sponge cupcake with a lemon curd core, and a torched meringue top. That sounds rather pretty and delicious doesn't it?
That's exactly what these are!
When Jase was eating the leftover cupcakes he looked at the halves that I gave him and he gasped and said "what's this on the inside?"..."is that really lemon meringue stuff on the inside?"... "doesn't  lemon meringue stuff have like a pie crust? what? is this a cake?". Ah bless him. Yes, lemon meringue should be a tart or a pie, BUT, lemon meringue cupcakes came into this world many moons ago, and while I was originally hoping to make a lemon meringue layer cake, making cupcakes was far easier.  Here is how I made mine!

Fornillo Beach

read the post
We didn't stay near the main beach of Positano, but instead, decided to stay at Hotel Vittoria where Fornillo Beach lay right below, only 200 odd stairs below in fact! To our surprise a cute little cafe called Pupetto was right there and OMG...served the biggest wads of mozzarella in their Caprese salad. I. WAS. IN. FRICKIN'. HEAVEN. Oh gosh it makes me want to cry a little just even thinking about that fresh, squeaky clean, moreish salad.
I definitely think Jase and I would go back to Positano in a heart beat as we only had 3 days there and missed out on seeing Capri nearby.
The pebbly beach was not pleasant to walk barefoot on, but this place just exudes the best sunny memories for Jase and I. Makeup free, hair tossled in sea water, carefree and happy, this is how life should be ey?

Enjoy the heavy download of photos :)

Thinking Out Loud

The first time I heard this song on the radio, I thought damn, this would be such a beautiful first wedding dance song. Low and behold, Ed Sheeran learns a dance routine and smashes it in his music video. Is there anything this multi taskin' guy can't do? Simply amazing. I can't wait to see him perform next year :D

p.s. who is the amazing girl dancer ey?

Facial Massages At Home

read the post

Since coming home from our European holiday, my skin has not been the best and I haven't had very good sleep. My skin is so much drier in the Sydney climate, and probably isn't helped with my severe hay fever allergies which also spurs some occasional eczema.  And then I guess some of my anxieties are creeping into my head during my sleep. Happiness from being carefree of a 9-5 comes with the cost of feeling unsettled with insecurities about where my next direction will head. But I'm slowly getting there and working on a plan!
One thing that I've noticed that has helped my skin settle a bit are facial massages, done right in the comfort of my own home! I'm loving this technique as part of my night time skincare routine where I massage in my Korres Wild Rose Overnight Sleeping Facial cream (now called Advanced Repair Sleeping Facial - a new discovery from Athens for me) on my face until it's fully absorbed or for just 5 minutes before bed. I can truly feel the blood rush to the surface of my skin, which gives nice warm sensation and is instantly calming too.
Here are the 5 steps I follow:

Apple Crumble - made 2 ways

read the post
Apple crumble is probably one of the first recipes I ever baked during Home Economics class, and so it always brings about some great nostalgic memories for me. In my intermediate school years (junior high to some of you!), we used to go to another school that had kitchen facilities to attend Home Economics class, and then after our afternoon bakes, we would place our baked goodies into empty ice cream containers (or whatever plastic containers we had brought along) to take home to our parents. I still remember my Mum's twisted expression when she saw my warm apple crumble mess inside an ice cream container which had been tossed about on the bus ride home. I'm pretty sure Mum had to muster all her strength to say "mm MMMMmmm" to the waft of plastic container-y, buttery, apple smell that was put before her.

Luckily for you ladies and gents, this recipe is a bit more refined and I definitely don't recommend you place warm things in plastic tubs for presentational purposes.

I *think* the American folk like to call this Apple Crisp, and that's exactly how I like my crumble topping; buttery, short and crispy.
Here is a recipe that you can make the old fashioned way, or the nouveau way for intolerant stomachs; gluten free and refined sugar free.

Nutella Banana Bread

read the post
I've shared a link to a recipe for this on Facebook before, but after realising how overly sweet my first attempt was, I decided an Oz/NZ measurement conversion was required... and then.... I forgot to post about it!
And so here we go, three months later, a recipe based on cups used here in Oz and NZ, but this time loosely based on a basic Donna Hay recipe and only makes one loaf!

Hollandaise Breakfast

read the post
Out of all the things on my "must master" cooking list, poaching eggs was the one I'm most afraid of. I had watched many food shows, YouTube clips and what not on how to do it, but never wanted to attempt it after a very failed first attempt a few years ago, resulting in scatters of little scramble-y white bits floating around in a saucepan full of water.
