Festive Hot Pink Lips For The Silly Season

If you feel like really sprucing up the makeup routine this party season, but don't want to go overboard (i.e. you simply don't have time to be learning new makeup techniques or rummaging for the best eye look), a festive hot pink lip is the easiest way to liven things up. This could be the first time you brave one, and it does take a lot of courage to rock a fuschia shade, but there really is no other fun reason to start rocking one than in the silly season.

I have to say I am liking the L'oreal Color Riche Moisture Matte lipstick formula, delivering just the right amount of vibrancy, matte saturated colour and creamy formula without drying the lips. It's the kind of lipstick I think that could be applied straight from the bullet without much fuss.
If you can't decide on a hot pink or a hot red, this 'Red Valentine' shade is a perfect cross between the two, and I think it warrants the best introduction to bright lip shades in your makeup collection.

Ensure your lips are well moisturised beforehand and blot off any excess shine from your lip balm before applying the lipstick. If your lips are flakey, try exfoliating a little with a combo of sugar and olive oil beforehand. Keep the rest of your makeup clean with beauty blended foundation, a small wash of blush or bronzer on the cheeks and cheekbones, a quick flick of eyeliner and mascara, groomed brows and you're good to go. If you're not feeling the full force of a saturated pin lip, simply blot the lipstick bullet lightly on the lips and then use your ring finger to carefully spread out the colour to make it all even.
If your lips are a little on the thin side, you can try to line your lips by taking the colour up above the lip line with a small flat lip brush or a with similar shade lip liner first (like MAC's Dynamo), to make them fuller. But perhaps let's talk about that further in another blog post hah! It seems I've become a bit of L'oreal fan girl as of late haven't I? I promise I don't discriminate with brands when it comes to makeup, it's just a suggestion and my fave of the moment. Makeup is meant to be fun and it's all temporary anyways, so give it a go :)
