Celebration Dress

We still haven't gotten round to getting all the dance footage off all sources to do a video edit, but once that happens I'll be sure to post it up! I'm not sure whether we would still remember the moves, but I reckon if we heard the mash-up songs again we would automatically jump back into it... like riding a bike. The number of hours we practiced surely must have coded the moves into our bodies haha.
I can't believe nearly a year has flown by! Ahhh such fond memories :)

**Part of the firery glow you may have noticed from these photos was because of the sunset glow being exaggerated from the smokey haze that has covered the Sydney skies from the bushfires that have occurred up north. It is devastating to see all the families and homes being affected by the wild conditions. Much praise must be given to all the brave fire fighting and rescue volunteers for all their tireless work through this tough time. Marinated Sicilian Olives
It's totally bonkers that the department stores here have already started selling Christmas decorations since September. But it has actually got me really looking forward to the festive season and seeing all the cookbooks and food magazines that are coming out has really inspired me to think more about the entertaining food aspect of it all. What we can make, share and eat with friends truly makes me happy.
I love olives, mostly I love Sicilian Olives. As much as I love buying them in its briney form from the supermarket, I really love nibbling on marinated olives if its on the restaurant menu, pre-dinner, with a good glass of wine in hand. But I never thought of marinating my own! Here's a quick and easy recipe I learned from a recipe book of delicious food by The Victoria Room (a gift from a good friend). I adapted it slightly in that I made sure I used Greek Oregano leaves (the ones that comes as a dried bunch) and I also used Chilli flakes instead of red pepper flakes.

Whilst jarring the big one up I thought these would be perfect as wedding favours or a simple little gift for friends, that doesn't require any fuss other than piling key ingredients on top of each other. I love the idea of homemade edible gifts, so a mini jar of marinated olives is perfect. Just dress up the jars with a bit of fabric (I chose chevron of course) and twine, and it's ready to give to a loved one :)
Hopefully this will mark the start of a summer eating entertainment series!

It's a long weekend here in Australia, and I can't wait. We're not going away, but it's meant to be full sunny skies and warm weather. Plus Prince Harry is coming down to celebrate Australia's Navy Fleet 100th anniversary. I'm mostly looking forward to visiting the hairdressers for some pampering, the huge fireworks display for the Navy Fleet (that is meant to be the biggest that Sydney has seen yet), and just some great catch up time with family and friends.

Marinated Sicilian Olives Recipe
Adapted from Supper At The Victoria Room
Ingredients:
- 700gm Sicilian Green Olives (pips in)
- 3 Bay leaves - crushed
- 2 tsp of dried Oregano leaves (preferably Greek Origin)
- 1.5 tsp of dried Chilli Flakes (includes seeds) - Use red pepper flakes if you don't enjoy heat!
- 1 tsp of Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
- 3 Garlic cloves - peeled
- 1 Long Red Chilli
- 3-4 sprigs of Fresh Thyme
- 1/2 Zest (long strips) of lemon
- Olive oil to fill jar
Equipment:
- 1 litre sterilised jar with lid / 4 250ml sterilised mason jars with lids
- Vegetable Peeler
Steps:
- Lightly crush together all the dry herbs in a pestle and mortar and set aside (that's the bay leaves, oregano leaves, chilli flakes, ground black pepper, and fennel seeds)
- Place a layer of olives at the bottom of your jar, and then place one clove of garlic, a sprig of thyme and one peel of zest on top, and sprinkle a good pinch of your crushed dry herbs. Continue layering up the jar in this way
- Place the long red chilli down the side of the jar and fill the jar up with Olive oil
- Place the lid on and leave to marinate for 10 days before enjoying with your friends and family over a couple glasses of wine or good cider :)

Let's hear it for the boys!

When the girls research get carried away with all the pretty wedding inspiration on the interwebs, we quite often spend a large proportion of time on the pretty stuff for the girls... and hope that the boys will take care of their own style. And with a bit of influence from us girls, we hope the boys' style will fit into our dreams for the big day. But HEY the boys have a voice too!
Jase found his own tux and accessories, and helped the boys with their classic suits, but found it difficult finding cool places to purchase unique pieces that matched the style he was thinking in his head.
I haven't seen that many mood boards totally dedicated to grooms and groomsmen out there without all the 'fluff', so this series of posts is dedicated to the un-bridally boys, for a bit of quirky and funky bow-tie inspiration. A bow-tie for any kind of theme or taste. Let's hear it for the boys! :)

Bridesmaid details
Bridesmaids... gotta love being one, and gotta love having them.
Gone are the days of making your bridesmaids look fuglier than the bride to make the bride shine. After all, you want your wedding photos to be memorable for all the right reasons! All I wanted for my day was the girls to feel just as beautiful and happy as I felt for myself. And with that in mind, I had hoped that they could wear a gown that was special with a bit of unexpected detail. So here is a wee inspo post for all you future bridesmaids and brides, looking for something different, something special so that you and your besties will feel wonderful on the big day.
Wow after trawling the interwebs, even I want to purchase some of these lil numbers for myself! I picked mostly neutral colours above, but of course it all comes down to the colour and feel that you want for your wedding, and also what kind of silhouette your bridesmaids feel most comfortable wearing.
I hope this post inspired you to look further than just the run-of-the-mill cookie cutter dress for your Besties :)

Style Me Pretty Feature
Ask me which blog I think is the ultimate resource for all things Wedding Pretty, breaming with real life weddings and I'll answer Style Me Pretty.
Ask me whether in a million years I would think our wedding would be featured on said blog, and I'll answer probably not a chance.
Crazy to say now, but we were honoured to find that our filmographer's submission to Style Me Pretty went through successfully and we were recently featured on the Style Me Pretty Little Black Book blog.
Not only did I trawl Style Me Pretty A LOT during my wedding research (Jase also used their site too!), but I was also delighted to know, and have since bought, Abby Larson's book here. It's a great book for inspiration on not only all things pretty for weddings, but also a beautifully laid out book full of ideas for any special occasion and entertaining at home.

Cap sleeved wedding gown details
It will be 6 months today since Jase and I got married, and it is a very fond memory indeed :)
I still love seeing wedding details and helping others search for items that help bring together their envisaged ideas of their big day. I'm soon to be a bridesmaid again in the near future, and am loving all the ideas and research that are bouncing back and forth between myself and my lovely engaged friend. I do especially love a challenge when a wedding photo is presented to me along with the question like;"where do you think those shoes are from?". To which I gladly answer "I don't know, but I accept the challenge of finding out!".
So I thought I'd carry on with the bridal detail posts that I have posted (like here, here, and here). Of course these won't be limited to just ideas and inspirations for the girls. The groom, groomsmen, page boys and Father-of-the-bride and grooms are equally important too. But for now, I will dedicate this post to Cap sleeved wedding gown details.

Easy and loose Hollywood curls
Whenever its Oscars or Emmy award time... I just LOVE ooh-ing, aah-ing and uh-oh-ing at the red carpet arrivals. One particular favourite of mine this year was Reese Witherspoon's Oscar hair. Gorgeous, Hollywood Glam and retro curls.
A lil while back I dusted off my hairstyling finger tips (and my makeup brushes for that matter... see the post here), and played around with my good friend's hair. Isn't it a girly thing to do so? I can't shake this off no matter how much older I'm getting!
Hollywood hair a la Rita Hayworth style is one of my favourites styles. But sometimes when you wanna look your best and polished, but not too overdone or not too Hollywood glamour (depending on the theme of the night), you just need to take these hair inspirations and try variations of these hairstyles. Here's my take on a looser version of the Hollywood curl that is quick and easy.
I sprayed my friend's hair with heat protectant spray (I used Tony & Guy). Then sectioned her hair in half horizontally (the halfway line reaching from air to air), and then in half again vertically (the vertical half line from a slightly deep side part that ran down the back of her head).
Leaving an inch of her bangs clipped aside in the front, I curled the rest of my friend's sectioned hair (1-1.5" slices at a time) with a 1.5" curling iron all in the same direction (for this, I curled her hair towards the right side of her head). Once each slice was curled, I kept it in a rolled up shape, by rolling them around my fingers to make a pinned curl that was 4-fingers wide, sprayed with a little L'oreal Elnett hair spray......and let the rolled up curls cool on her head while I did her makeup.
For the front bangs that I clipped aside, I curled this away from her face and pinned the curl on top of her head.
Once all the curls were cooled, I let all the pins out and loosely brushed through her curls to create volume and loosen the curls. Created a slight deep side part and swept all her hair to one side. Pinned a few inch bottom layers of her hair towards the right and at the nape of her neck, so that the hair would stay in that direction.
Then basically toyed around with the brushed out curls, either try a voluminous look by combing the curls through more, or a slightly more uniform curl look by shaping with your fingers. And then do a final spray of L'oreal Elnett to finish and set!

A lil while back I dusted off my hairstyling finger tips (and my makeup brushes for that matter... see the post here), and played around with my good friend's hair. Isn't it a girly thing to do so? I can't shake this off no matter how much older I'm getting!
Hollywood hair a la Rita Hayworth style is one of my favourites styles. But sometimes when you wanna look your best and polished, but not too overdone or not too Hollywood glamour (depending on the theme of the night), you just need to take these hair inspirations and try variations of these hairstyles. Here's my take on a looser version of the Hollywood curl that is quick and easy.
I sprayed my friend's hair with heat protectant spray (I used Tony & Guy). Then sectioned her hair in half horizontally (the halfway line reaching from air to air), and then in half again vertically (the vertical half line from a slightly deep side part that ran down the back of her head).
Leaving an inch of her bangs clipped aside in the front, I curled the rest of my friend's sectioned hair (1-1.5" slices at a time) with a 1.5" curling iron all in the same direction (for this, I curled her hair towards the right side of her head). Once each slice was curled, I kept it in a rolled up shape, by rolling them around my fingers to make a pinned curl that was 4-fingers wide, sprayed with a little L'oreal Elnett hair spray......and let the rolled up curls cool on her head while I did her makeup.
